PriboStrip™ Goat Milk Adulteration by Cow Milk Rapid Test Strips

  1. Introduction

Pure goat milk is a high-end dairy product. It contains small fat globules and is easily absorbed, making it suitable for people with lactose intolerance, the elderly, and infants. It is also rich in whey protein, immunoglobulins, and various nutrients, with a high proportion of unsaturated fatty acids.
Due to limited goat milk production, a significant gap exists between supply and demand. As a result, goat milk is sometimes adulterated with cow milk to reduce production costs. The frequent occurrence of such adulteration poses health risks to consumers, particularly those allergic to cow milk. Allergic reactions may include skin itching, redness and swelling, nausea, and vomiting, and in severe cases may lead to laryngeal edema, breathing difficulties, or anaphylactic shock. In addition, enterprises may face consumer disputes due to substandard products, resulting in economic losses and damage to brand reputation.

2-Product Principles and Advantages

Detection Principle

Bispecific antibody sandwich method: A conjugate of anti-α-lactalbumin monoclonal antibody 1 (Ab-1) and colloidal gold-labeled monoclonal antibody 2 (Ab-2-Au) is used to bind different epitopes of the target antigen. Through this specific antigen–antibody reaction, qualitative detection of the target protein is achieved.

Product Features

1)Strong specificity:
Anti-α-lactalbumin monoclonal antibody 1 specifically recognizes α-lactalbumin in cow’s milk and shows no cross-reactivity with other common food matrices.

2High sensitivity:
The detection sensitivity is 1%. A positive result can be obtained when 1 mL of cow’s milk is present in 100 mL of goat milk (equivalent to a 1:100 dilution).

3Convenient and efficient operation:
Sample pretreatment requires only simple dilution. Testing can be performed directly, and results can be read by the naked eye within 10 minutes.

4Application scenarios:
Suitable for raw material quality control in goat milk processing plants, inspection of finished products at milk stations, pastures, and distribution points, as well as product quality spot checks by regulatory authorities.

3-Product Parameter

Product namePriboStripTM Goat Milk Adulterated By Cow Milk Rapid Test Strips
Product numberPRS-F010
Format10T/20T
Detection objectα -lactalbumin in milk
Sensitivity1 %
Testing time10 min
Applicable substrateGoat milk, goat milk powder

4-Method

  1. Before use, allow the test strip and the sample solution to reach room temperature.
  2. Dilute the goat milk or goat milk powder 100-fold with the sample diluent to obtain the test solution.
  3. Pipette 200 µL of the test solution into a centrifuge tube. Insert the test strip directly into the tube. Ensure that the liquid level does not exceed the arrow mark on the strip. Interpret the result after 10 minutes.

5-Results Analysis

  1. Negative result: Only the C line of the test strip is colored.
  2. Positive result: Both C and T lines are colored.
  3. Invalid result: When the C line of the test strip is not colored, the reaction fails. Please check the following possible reasons, and retest with a new test strip:

A: If the test strip packaging is damaged.

B: If the test strip is damp.

C: If the sample is too thick or too concentrated.
